Dear Anoop,
It’s probably strange to you to have so many unknown people suddenly know and like you. We haven’t met you, so how could we form an opinion?
You’ve surely realized by now that it just didn’t matter whether or not we could know you in person. Music is a magical thing. It transcends age, culture, and language. Your voice has touched us, and as strange as that may be, you now have Fans. We feel a connection to you through the TV screen, just from hearing your voice.
A lot of people have spent a lot of time talking about you, working to promote you, and even daydreaming about you. :) Face it, Anoop… a lot of genuine random love is suddenly coming your way. Your fans are dedicated, and some of us, once initiated, are here to stay.
Hopefully you will read this page some day. When you do, please know that the sentiments expressed here are from the heart. We all feel strongly about you, and are thankful for the chance to know about you. You have made us feel happy. That’s amazing. :)

I am definitely an R&B girl, so you make me smile when I hear you sing. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. You will never know how many lives you have touched! So I’ve already left one of these on Anoopdog.com (first one on the comment wall! Whoo hoo! Lol!) so I kind of know what I want to say..
But I’ve been a fan since I first saw you on your audition! I adore Indian guys and dorky guys so I was happy then I heard you sing and wow… I became a huge fan at that moment and hit the internet looking for more info! Then the more and more I saw you on Idol I could tell that you have such a sweet, humble, greatful, polite, southern boy persona about you and it is just refreshing to see someone with SO much talent be this way! You truly do inspire me! And even by some strange chance you are not “the” American Idol.. You will be mine and our American Idol because not only do you have the voice to win the competition but you have the leadership, confidence, and personality of a true American Idol! I will always be a fan! You are amazing! =D

Anoop your voice is amazing. The way I’m able to connect to you when your on stage…. is that of what I got from Elliott Yamin’s singing. You are what I’ve been wanting to come across American Idol. Someone who reaches me with there music on a higher level than other artist. Anoop your signing is beautiful. Hearing your voice makes me think that I couldn’t ask for more. Anoop thank you for being who you are.

Where do i start? ^_^.. I’ll start with a smile.. because that’s how i look whenever i hear you sing or whenever i see you on the internet or on TV.. I am a fan of American Idol ever since Season1.. throughout the years though, my interest in American Idol have been decreasing.. In the beginning it WAS about looking for a talent.. NOW, its all about money, ratings, or drama.. You decided to audition after the death of a close friend, but you did not let all of America use that for sympathy, instead, you auditioned and all of America heard your great voice.. Right when you auditioned, I knew you are different. I knew you have something special.. and just like all my fellow Anoop’rs and Nooper Troopers, I WAS RIGHT.. one day, i decided to look you up on Youtube, and guess what? i stumbled upon the UNC CLEF HANGERS videos (c/o Clefhangerfan-thanks!).. and thats when i REALLY REALLY fell inlove HARD!! lol.. i showed your videos to ALL my friends and family, here in America and also in the Philippines.. =D THEY LOVE YOU TOO!!! Yes, i was shocked and saddened when you did not go through TOP12 (instantly!) but We are ALL hoping that you get through WIldcard.. If all that AMerican Idol wants now is ratings/attention.. then WE WILL GIVE IT!! Just for you Anoop!! We are very dedicated fans to you and we support you every step of the way, whether its on AMerican Idol or else where.. You have great talent that is INCOMPARABLE.. Keep up the great work.. I fell in love with your voice and personality at the audition round, which is normally the only round of AI I bother to watch. However, I continued to watch the show only to make sure you got through. I have left countless messages on facebook, this website, and anoopdog.com, and I think you are the most talented and deserving person on the show right now. I am even the proud owner of a Yes We Anoop tee, and I will proudly wear it on thursday. I wish you the best of luck in this show, after you come back as I’m sure you will next week. Anoop - All I can say is that you impressed me from the moment you opened your mouth to sing Boyz II Men’s Thank You at your audition. My brother moved to the Triangle area not too long ago, and I had just visited him in Oct/Nov and gotten to see the UNC - Chapel Hill campus. Perhaps that’s why I feel such a connection with you…you are more “real” to me than the other contestants. Regardless, I am excited to hear you sing more and captivate America with your wonderful, smooth style. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch you make a guest appearance with the Clefs sometime when I’m visiting my brother! Anoop!!! This may seem cliche, but discovering you and the music of the clefhangers really brought me out of a dark area I was falling into. I was mesmerized. The harmony is one thing, but the sounds you guys are able to make with just your voices is incredible! The CD clips from the clefhangers website are excellent quality! You can hear all the subtle sounds so clearly! I’d never think there was no actual instruments if I didn’t already know! My hubby works at UNC and does electrical maintenance at Memorial Hall. I have to admit, I don’t usually watch the show past the original auditions. This year, I saw you first appear when they said your name, before the audition. My god-family is from India, so I automatically root for people of Indian descent, and I was uncertain as to how you would do. (As soon as I saw you, I was literally praying that you wouldn’t be one of the joke contestants they only show for laughs in the auditions.)
I probably really got into you when you said you studied the importance of barbecue in Southern Culture. Southern folklore? What an amazing major. And you could sing. And sing very well… I was so excited. The only reason I have been watching up until now was to hear you, as weird as that might sound from someone you’ve never meant.
My life is pretty hectic, I’m in my senior year of high school and just finished all my applications for colleges and art schools. I don’t go home at night after all the crap I have to do and turn on the TV to see reality drama. I don’t like the people who constantly cry about how hard their lives are and how they have gone through so much, blah blah. I get enough of that in high school.
But you actually have been through a deal, your friend died last year, and you don’t use it to get people to vote for you. That’s very respectable and classy of you. You have fans not because you broadcast your home life or because you’ve gone through hell, you have fans because you’re an amazing singer, and that’s what American Idol should be about.
I threw my pizza at the TV when you weren’t voted into the top twelve. I have been annoying the people on this website since then, about “did he make the wild card?! How do they choose?!” And I am still unsure if you’ve been chosen for the wild card round, but I hope you have, and make it into the top twelve, where you so rightly deserve to be.
You don’t need American Idol to become famous. You’ll become whatever you want in life, you really don’t need them to be considered amazing.
I hope you read this message and realize, you really are an amazing person. You’re smart, talented, and your singing really has touched so many people more than the other contestants on the show. Even if you don’t win American Idol, please don’t ever stop singing.

ok, so the first message i wrote to you was crap. litterly. haha.
Well let me start this hopefully better message with this. I actually think i missed the Kansas City auditions. I’m pretty sure i was out with someone. haha. but when I watched you preform in hollywood week, i realized that you are amazing. your voice, your looks, just the way you are…touches me.
I really dont want to be one of those people who goes out looking for sympathy, or only talks about the bad stuff thats happened to me, but i too have a sob story. i dont know how many people would be interested in reading it so if you dont want to hear a sad story skip over the next paragraph or two….
My father killed himself last September. Actually, six months ago today. It was my first day of school, and i was pretty excited to see my friends. My mom came to pick me up, and i was all distraught over an ex who was flirting with me. we went to go pick my younger brother up from a campsite where he was staying with my aunt, because he wouldnt start school untill the next day. as we were getting back in the car to go home, my mom got a call on her cell phone. i looked, and it was my older half-brother, Joey. my mother picked it up, and immediately started bawling. she looked at my aunt and told her she needed her to keep us, and got in her car and drove away. my brother immediately started crying, because he is younger than me and could keep it in more easily. i, being older was just in shock untill i realized it must have been something to do with my dad. i started to loose control and started to cry as well. the rest of that day was spent waiting, and traveling from relative to relative being brought places, but never told what was going on. I had suspicions that my father was sick with cancer or something. or maybe he had suffered an injury at work? Then we came to my grandmother’s house, and i saw everyone on the lawn with red eyes, and i knew something had happened. my mother was sitting on the swing on the lawn by herself. she motioned us over to her, and we sat down. she took my brother on her lap and held my hand. “um…daddy died today.” she said. my brother started to scream and i just sat there, wishing i could wake up. of course, it wasn’t a dream. we all stayed at my grandmother’s house for 2 week or so. it was a few days after my father had died that my mother took me into my grandmother’s room and told me what had happened. My father had killed himself. I still am not clear on exactly what he did, but it was in the garage at my house. since then my mother has gone in there, but i still dont have the nerve to. im afraid of how i will react.
i havent shared that with anyone up till now. i don’t know why i chose to share it now, and with all of you here at noop-dogg.com, but i dont know…it just felt right. after all these months of depression, Anoop has shed a new light on my life…that probably sounds really corny. i dont know what else to say

I’m really sorry to hear about your experience @Emily, but I’m also impressed that you seem to have pulled your life back together. If Anoop’s music has helped you through tough times and thoughts, I think he’s already achieved more than he thought he could. He doesn’t need an American Idol trophy as affirmation of his talent. Music has the power to transform, to inspire, it speaks to us in ways mere words cannot.
Thank you for sharing your story, you’ve made us all feel closer. One finds purpose and succor in strange ways. Did you ever imagine, like a bolt of the blue, a geeky kid, his music and a community of his fans, would help you, in however small a way, through trying times?

Beautiful story Emily. Countless people have been through the same situation themselves so its good that you can express it where many can read it. Thats awesome that Anoop’s music/voice has shed some light in your life but give much credit to yourself also who has been able to pull through this. its mentally and emotionally exhausting but you my friend are a strong person and you have nooooo idea how many ppl you have helped by just telling your story. Anoop, I have watched the Top 13 “announcement” clip 5 or 6 times, and my eyes fill with tears every time. After smiling and thanking someone off camera and starting to leave, I’m sure in those few seconds you had resigned yourself to going home. It must have been a major traffic jam in your head when Simon announced the judge’s “perogative” of 13 finalists. I really really felt for you at that moment. I mean, you were gone! Twice!! And back again! Twice!!

In all the turmoil facing humanity, the most important quality we look for in all our leaders, even in the entertainment world, is character and authenticity. I can sense it is there in you. That is really what attracts people to you as a proformer. I wish you the very best and will enjoy watching you grow as a performer. Far more than the affinity that I feel toward you being an Asian by blood, it is your personality that made me root for you. I think you are an inspiration to every young individual to always strive to be the best in whatever endeavor he/she is undertaking. What can I say that all these other amazing “anoopssessed” people have not said? The point is, this site and these individuals gathered here, taking time out from our hectic lives (not just a minute or two coz I, myself, probably spend a good 3-4 hrs a day on here when I’m working and the whole day when I’m off..seriously massive anoop time!) to make sure that u KNOW that we appreciate u and LOVE u and to rally u through round after round.
That being said, here’s my two-bits…..
I live in Fayetteville, NC…about 1 1/2 hrs from Chapel Hill and I love UNC! I guess that’s one of the things that drew me to you when u first appeared at American Idol on your audition. I have never watched American Idol in the past 7 yrs its been on coz I’m not really a reality show fan, so i don’t know what made me watch that day…. but I’m glad I did because it led me to discover a wonderful soul such as you…and I havent missed a show ever since. It started out like a “hmm..that guy can sing, i like him” and then I searched on youtube and saw u with the Clefhangers (awesome group, btw!) and it became so much bigger than that. I am of Filipino descent, which, I guess, is another reason why I feel this affinity towards to…it is always good to see an asian excell.
The funny thing is, im not even into your type of music…i mostly like alternative, rock, etc but not pop or RnB…but I guess that’s how convincing you are coz im starting to appreciate this genre because of ur voice (not promising to convert tho,,,lol! but ill listen to whatever you sing).
You are like a breath of fresh air in that show, a ray of light, and it is refreshing. I guess this is why we’re hooked…coz it is U, not Danny, who gives us HOPE! U go out there so grounded and so firm in knowing who you are and what you want to do and you don’t let all these hollywood BS sway you. And the quiet way u take the emotional beating they put you through is beyond me! It takes an enormous amount of strength and principle to do that. And I don’t think u even know what a positive thing u are in our lives….or what u do to us girls when u smile like that!….*wink*….it’s one of ur most dangerous weapons…hahah
Let me wrap this up…. i pray you stay true to who and what you are and dont lose sight of what is pure and true about you… you do this and we promise …WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE YOUR BACK….

You were my favorite since then. I haven’t missed a single show! I have watched all the Clefhanger videos on Youtube, and you hang out with a great group of guys. You all look so cute together!

When I first saw your audition and you had on a buttoned down shirt and shorts and you were Indian (i’m sorry, i don’t mean to be a racist though) I was like ‘oh my God this is going to be bad! please don’t let him run through trees like Sharukh Khan and make a fool of himself’ but then you sang “Thank You” by Boys 2 Men and I was blown away. ‘Wow this guy can sing’ I said to myself. and you looked like a nerd which made me like you even more! because I, too, am an Asian geek and seeing you up there is like you’re representing all Asian geeks everywhere! I don’t know if you will ever read this but you should know that you are an inspiration. A geek, specifically an asian geek can be cool and become a heartthrob, too haha. Then i learned you have a master’s degree already, even though you are only 1 year older than me. That really pushed me to be the best. you make me want to be as great as you are in academics! I was sad that they didn’t feature you much on Hollywood Rounds but I was ecstatic that you got through to the top 36. I was really sad that you didn’t get through immediately but I just know you”ll be top 12 this year and you were! You don’t have to win and become an American Idol, Anoop, you already are a lot of peoples idol’s. I’m just hoping you get a CD out, because let’s face it most guy Idol winners aren’t that successful…I just want you to have a successful music career because I want to be able to enjoy you all the time, listening to your voice and music, even though I’m all the way in the other side of the world in Indonesia. Anoop, it is fine to step it up as Randy says and do something more upbeat. But resist the temptation to dance. Remember how they criticized you for your dancing in previous weeks. They didn’t feel it was you and they thought it was dorky. Be careful that you don’t jump around on stage and try to watch the fashion thing so they don’t go back to seeing you as preppie. I know it is just a Carolina thing; all the guys dress nicely, but for this venue, you will need to be careful of that.

After the elimination I could not sleep. It is very sad to see people voted off especially as talented as Anoop.
Looking back what he did to a lot of people. He made people all around the world unite, meet, accept each other regardless of gender, age, nationality and religion. He is One of a kind. I personally I met a lot of good people because of him.
I was never a die hard AI fan since I saw Anoop auditioned. It’s not his look as everbody was claiming but the voice and his personality that caught my attention and interest. So, I religiously followed AI.
I will be hypocrite if I say I am not bitter seeing Anoop go. I cried a river that night.
I will look forward to seeing him again. I will watch out for his Album. I’m sure a lot of people will.
Anoop Desai is definitely EXTREMELY talented and showed the world what he IS and HAS .

I’ve been struggling for months now going back and forth in my mind trying to decide how to tell you this. Part of me wondered if I should tell you at all, if doing so would be too hard on me emotionally Then this morning I woke up and that little voice in the back of my head (my dad says it’s my conscience) was screaming “Do it!” so here goes
My life has never been easy I was born with cerebral palsy, a birth defect that left me unable to walk or move muscles easily I’m completely wheelchair bound and I depend on my parents to care for me even though at 22 years old I’m desperate to be on my own I’ve been in the hospital so many times I lost count.
Still that didn’t prepare me for what happened a few months ago
On February 2nd my mother, who is also my best friend and the best caregiver in the world had to be airlifted to the hospital I was sick with the flu that night so I was forced to stay with friends while Dad went to the hospital The last thing I saw that night was my hero being wheeled out on a stretcher (no one knows I saw that so if we ever meet don’t tell anyone) Anyway she recovered and thank God it was only a bad reaction to meds However I began having horrible nightmares and flashbacks No one knew how to help me an believe me my parents tried everything No luck I couldn’t sleep because every time I closed my eyes I saw my mom on a stretcher heard the wail of sirens the whir of helicopters Finally my dad, who knows I love your voice went and found every song of yours he could get his hands on (even your Clef stuff) He set up my computer and placed headphones on my pillow The first song he played was Angel of Mine. To my parents’ and my delight I was asleep within an hour and since then have been alble to sleep through the night As of April 2nd I have gone two months without a nightmare Now my dream is to meet you hug you and thank you I’m from Kentucky and would have to travel to Indianapolis to see you But to me it would be worth it I need this Anoop Seeing you would be the best way to put this whole incident behind me
